Rayan Aït-Nouri has been a mainstay for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season and retained his spot after Vítor Pereira succeeded Gary O’Neil in December.

The Algeria international began as a left-back and transitioned to a left wing-back position under Pereira. He’s featured in 39 matches and delivered strong performances for Wolves this campaign.

Jorge Mendes previously had strong connections with Wolves and was managing the 23-year-old. Aït-Nouri has now switched representation and opted for ICM Stellar to handle his affairs.

Fennec Football report this is a calculated move by the fullback, suggesting it highlights his ambition to join a top-tier European side.

His current deal runs until 2026, with the option to extend by an additional year, and Wolves have been keen to secure an extension. However, that appears doubtful as the report indicates Aït-Nouri’s choice to pursue a new opportunity ‘seems irreversible’.

The defender’s tactical move to change representatives is a setback to the Premier League club’s intention to commit him to a fresh agreement.

Even though he has ended his association with Jorge Mendes, the outlet notes that the high-profile agent could still act as a mediator in securing him a transfer. Whether that will be confirmed by other sources remains unclear.

Aït-Nouri’s agent switch is widely viewed as a firm signal of his intent to depart Molineux.
