One former Seattle Seahawks pass catcher believes Pittsburgh Steelers wideout DK Metcalf is not the standout many think he is on the gridiron.

Ex-Seahawks receiver Bryan Walters expects Metcalf to find some success with the Steelers but feels he is overrated.

“I’ve been very vocal about kind of my thoughts on DK as a wide receiver… and you know, maybe I’ll be a little nice I guess, but slightly overrated,” Walters said.

“I think he’s gonna do well in Pittsburgh, but at the same time I just think that they really revamped this wide receiver room to fit that Kubiak scheme and a lot of guys that are better route runners and guys that just kinda complement each other. I think JSN and Cooper Kupp are gonna be so fun to watch together.”

A two-time Pro Bowler, Metcalf has excelled with the Seahawks, and has ties to the Steelers. He previously caught passes from Russell Wilson, whose signature deep throw helped maximize Metcalf’s impact as a vertical threat during his early seasons in Seattle.

Metcalf and the Steelers have also finalized a five-year, $150 million contract. That marks the most lucrative deal in franchise history, and Metcalf now steps in as the clear-cut WR1 for the Steelers.

Now, Metcalf will assume the role of lead receiver in Pittsburgh following the team’s decision to trade George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.
