Leeds United might be preparing to say goodbye to Max Wober as a transfer appears likely to materialise this summer.

The 27-year-old returned to Elland Road during the summer following a loan stint at Borussia Monchengladbach but failed to make a significant impact.

This led to the Austria international earning just two starts under Daniel Farke in the Championship as a return to the Premier League was clinched.

Consequently, an exit now seems imminent with an offer reportedly on the verge of being accepted as the move nears completion in LS11.

Wober departure looming as offer discussed at Leeds:

There will probably be a considerable amount of squad reshuffling in Yorkshire over the coming months after securing a place in the top flight for the upcoming season.

This has already seen the Whites linked with a pursuit of Everton forward Beto, who could be among the first additions in the transfer window.

Outgoing transfers are also expected at Elland Road, with Wober seemingly on his way out after a largely uneventful Championship campaign.

Having made only nine appearances across all competitions, it’s probable that the Austrian is seeking a fresh start — a desire that will likely intensify if a new central defender arrives.

That indeed seems to be one of Farke’s objectives for the summer, with Marseille centre-back Leonardo Balerdi reportedly eyed for a switch to Elland Road.

Reports suggest that the LS11 outfit will “soon” table a bid for the Argentine international, potentially worth up to £38million [Foot Mercato, 9 May].

Should such a costly signing go ahead for the 26-year-old, it’s reasonable to conclude that Wober’s time in Yorkshire would be drawing to a close.

Wober could be one of the players offloaded, as he appears surplus to requirements under Farke, particularly heading into Premier League action.
