NafisaMatheus Cunha’s stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers seems to be nearing its end.
The Brazilian attacker, who played a key role in Wolves’ Premier League survival with 15 goals and impressive displays in the attacking third, is reportedly close to completing a move to Manchester United in what may become one of the standout transfers of the summer.
A deal is understood to have been finalised between the two clubs, personal terms have been agreed, and both United and Wolves are believed to have settled on a structured payment plan for Cunha’s £62.5m release clause.
The 26-year-old is anticipated to pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option for an extra year.
Ahead of the expected switch, Cunha appeared to bid farewell to two of his Wolves and Brazil colleagues—João Gomes and André—by presenting them with Rolex watches. The gesture stemmed from a vow he made if the squad avoided relegation, but the emotional notes included with the gifts suggested a more permanent goodbye.
“Thank you for all the moments, you will always be in my heart,” Cunha wrote in a card to both players. “I will always be in love with you and your family. I love you.”
Gomes uploaded a video of André opening the Rolex in the locker room, followed by a heartfelt hug with Cunha.
André also honoured his outgoing teammate, posting a photo of the pair warming up together earlier in the campaign with the caption: “I’m sure you will shine wherever you go, my friend. May God bless you and your family.”
Manchester United will surely be hoping he does exactly that.
