DEAL ON! — Rangers now open to SIGNING Top-class Premier League star as replacement for our of contract Leon Balogun as played is expected to Pack his Bags and Wave Goodbye to present club amid Free Transfer to Ibrox

Rangers are eyeing a move for Ipswich defender Cameron Burgess ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 29-year-old achieved successive promotions under Kieran McKenna’s leadership at Portman Road after arriving in 2021. The Tractor Boys have now been demoted back to the Championship for next season.

Scottish-born, Burgess is an Australian international having relocated there with his family during childhood. The left-footed centre-back has featured 18 times in the Premier League this term.

And the Rangers Review understands that Burgess, who will be a free agent this summer, has drawn serious interest from Rangers as they look to strengthen their backline ahead of the upcoming season.

Burgess is regarded as a strong match for Scottish football and measures 6 foot 4.

Seen primarily as a left-sided central defender, Rangers also have promising prospect Clinton Nsiala competing for that position. It’s also believed that Robin Propper could depart Ibrox this summer following his arrival from FC Twente last year.

Leon Balogun, whose contract expires at the close of the season, has recently partnered John Souttar in central defence for Rangers.

In other developments, Davide Ancelotti will accompany his father Carlo in managing Brazil for their fixtures against Ecuador and Paraguay next month. However, the Italian hasn’t ruled out a switch to Ibrox as he evaluates his next step amid interest from Rangers this summer.

The Rangers Review reported this week that Ancelotti Jnr is among the shortlisted candidates being considered by the Ibrox board as they search for a full-time successor to Philippe Clement in the technical area. Interim manager Barry Ferguson will oversee his final match in charge on Saturday when Rangers conclude their Premiership season away to Hibernian.

Several candidates remain under consideration for the head coach role at Ibrox. It’s believed that the club hopes to finalise an appointment by early June, ahead of pre-season and Champions League qualifiers scheduled for mid-July.

Reports from Brazil on Friday claimed that Davide had decided not to pursue a managerial role ahead of the new season despite receiving multiple expressions of interest. It was suggested he would stay with Carlo through the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, choosing not to branch out independently just yet.

However, the Rangers Review understands that’s not accurate, and Ancelotti Jnr is still determined to establish himself independently and step out from under his father’s shadow. The 35-year-old has worked alongside the iconic manager at Everton, Napoli, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.

The final round of La Liga fixtures will mark the conclusion of Ancelotti’s illustrious spell at the Bernabeu and usher in his transition to international duties. That move could open the door for his son to head to Glasgow and be entrusted with reclaiming the Premiership crown next season.

It’s understood Davide’s ambition for the next chapter is to begin his managerial path on his own terms. The Rangers Review previously revealed that a decision on his likely destination is expected within two weeks as he searches for the right project to commit to for the future.

If no suitable offer materialises this summer, Davide could still choose to link up with Carlo and join the Brazilian setup.

But Rangers are still pushing hard to secure Ancelotti’s services this summer, should all parties align on a deal that sees the highly-rated coach usher in a fresh era as the Ibrox takeover process progresses.
