“Celtic fans are the best around and I thank them for all the support,” —Top-class Celtic star has now waved Goodbye to teammates and club supporters after announcing his decision to LEAVE following defeat in the Scottish Cup Final to Aberdeen in Hampden

Earlier today Celtic confirmed that, as anticipated, Scott Bain has departed the club after over seven years as a Celt, with the 33-year-old shot-stopper leaving with an impressive haul of 14 winners medals to his credit — a collection that includes seven Scottish Premiership crowns, three Scottish Cups, and four League Cups.

He joined Celtic in the final moments of the January 2018 transfer window, donning a Hibs tracksuit as he had been loaned to the Easter Road side following a dressing room clash with Neil McCann that ended poorly for the former Rangers and Hearts winger.

The Celtic Star was first to report that Scott Bain would start at Ibrox in March 2018 in a pivotal league fixture which theRangers were convinced they would win. Douglas ‘Red Card, Red Card’ persuaded Willie Collum to dismiss Jozo Simonovic for a tackle that barely warranted a caution.

Bain made 78 outings for Celtic, the last being a pre-season fixture in Ireland last October against Sligo Rovers. He also earned three senior caps for Scotland during his stint at Celtic, where he was a crucial squad figure and highly respected by the coaching staff and teammates throughout his spell at the club.

Scott’s final appearance at Celtic Park came on trophy day 2024 when he was subbed on late in the match against St Mirren to replace Joe Hart, as the Englishman drew the curtain on his professional career. Notably, Scott Bain is NOT hanging up his gloves — at 33, he’s eager to keep playing and clearly has a new move lined up, something Celtic’s choice to let him leave on a free transfer will surely facilitate.

Scott Bain, speaking to the official Celtic FC website, reflected on his departure from the club.

“I am really sad, of course, to be leaving the club but I am so thankful, too, for everything the club has given me,” ‘Boxer’ said. “I have enjoyed my time at Celtic massively and it has been a huge honour to be part of the biggest and best club in the country.

“I would like to thank the Gaffer and all the other managers I’ve worked with, my many team-mates over the years and all the staff at Celtic. I’ve made some great friends at Celtic and will always be supporting the club in everything it does.

“The Celtic fans are the best around and I thank them for all the support I have been given by them too. I wish the club and our supporters nothing but success for the future.”

Brendan Rodgers spoke on behalf of everyone at the club regarding Scott Bain and the announcement that he is now departing.

“Scott has given everything to Celtic and I would like to thank him sincerely for his time at the club. He has been a valued member of the squad and a great team-mate, really liked and respected by us all,” the Celtic manager said.

He added: “Everyone at the club wishes Scott and his family all the very best for the future.”
