According to Sky Sports, Celtic are prepared to consider bids for five members of their first-team roster this summer…

Anthony Joseph from Sky Sports has indicated that Brendan Rodgers plans to move a number of players on once the dust settles on the 2024/25 season double-winning season.

Joseph’s report states that Celtic reportedly ready to sell them permanently in the upcoming transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers inherited four of these signings on his return to Celtic in summer 2023:

Of these five players, four were acquired during Rodgers’ initial transfer period after his 2023 return to Celtic, succeeding Ange Postecoglou following his exit to Tottenham Hotspur.

However Rodgers was NOT involved in these transfers and has instead worked through the process of evaluating the players at Lennoxtown and in matches and has now reached his conclusion on what happens next.

Luis Palma

Among those deemed surplus to requirements is Luis Palma. Despite being the most effective of the signings under scrutiny, Palma is currently not part of Celtic’s future plans.

The Honduras international returned to Greece on loan at Olympiakos for the latter half of the season, scoring once and assisting once. However, the Greek side opted against making the move permanent. Since arriving from Aris FC in August 2023, Palma has registered 20 goal contributions across 48 matches.

Gustaf Lagerbielke

Following Carl Starfelt’s transfer to Celta Vigo in the summer of 2023, Gustaf Lagerbielke was brought in from Elfsborg to fill the central defensive void. Despite that, the Swedish defender has made just 10 appearances for Celtic.

He spent this season on loan at Dutch outfit FC Twente, where he impressed enough to attract interest in a potential permanent transfer—dependent on the valuation.

Stephen Welsh

Academy graduate Stephen Welsh is another player reportedly heading for the exit door, following a solid loan spell with Belgian club KV Mechelen. There, he featured in 17 games and scored a goal in his final appearance.

Since debuting in 2020, the 25-year-old has made 68 outings for Celtic. A dependable performer, Welsh has been a dedicated servant to the club but now appears set for a fresh chapter elsewhere.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu

Signed alongside fellow South Korean Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon Hyeok-kyu has yet to make a competitive appearance for Celtic.

He has spent the last two seasons on loan, first at St Mirren and then at Hibernian. In total, he’s racked up 31 matches during his time in Paisley and Edinburgh. Despite gaining experience, he too has been deemed non-essential by Rodgers.

Marco Tilio

Since his move from Melbourne City, Marco Tilio has only played twice for Celtic and is currently on loan back at his former Australian club.

Tilio is expected to return to Parkhead this summer after regaining form in the A-League. However, with Celtic reportedly prepared to let him go permanently, his future in Glasgow looks doubtful.

Brendan Rodgers inherited four of these five players when he returned to the club in 2023, taking over from Ange Postecoglou. Although Rodgers wasn’t responsible for their arrivals, he has spent the season evaluating them in training and matches and has now made his judgement.
