NafisaPhilippe Clement is reportedly poised to become the next manager of Sparta Prague.
The Czech side ended fourth in the nation’s top division last season, going without a win in their final five league matches of the term.
Manager Lars Friis was dismissed after a 3-1 cup final loss to Olomouc, which left them without silverware for the 2024/25 season.
A successor has already been identified, however, as Clement is ‘heading’ to Prague to take the reins at Sparta, according to ruik.cz, who report that the club is expected to ‘officially confirm’ his hiring ‘soon’.
The Belgian exited his post at Rangers just over two months ago.
A 2-0 home loss to St Mirren proved to be the final straw for Clement.
Barry Ferguson replaced the 51-year-old, staying on as caretaker boss through the remainder of the season.
He guided Rangers to the Europa League quarter-finals and oversaw a memorable 3-2 win against Celtic at Parkhead.
It has now been announced he won’t be offered the full-time role, with the Ibrox outfit still searching for a new permanent head coach.
A takeover of the club by a group fronted by 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh was confirmed on Friday: “Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce that a consortium of investors, led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, has purchased a majority stake in the club, with approval from the Scottish FA,” a statement read.
“The consortium will chart a new strategic vision for the club’s future prioritising on-pitch performance and long-term financial sustainability.
“The new leadership has committed to invest £20 million into the club at this time, which will be subject to shareholder approval at the General Meeting on 23 June 2025.”
