BIG UPDATE — Wolves star has now Agreed Terms on a Move to Premier League rivals as report claims player is interested in joining the PL side over staying at Molineux after what Vitor Pereira did to him since the Gaffer’s arrival at the club

Sam Johnstone is set to depart Wolves this summer amid increasing interest from Leeds United, sources have informed Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior reporter Pete O’Rourke disclosed that the 32-year-old is eager to feature in first-team football next season and is unlikely to get that opportunity at Molineux.

Leeds consider him an improvement over Illan Meslier, who was dropped from the starting XI under Daniel Farke due to concerns over his performances.

This follows comments from former Man United head scout Mick Brown, who told Football Insider that Leeds are planning a move for Johnstone ahead of the summer transfer window.

Since his £10million transfer to Wolves from Crystal Palace last summer, the goalkeeper has started only seven league matches and is seeking a move for more consistent football.

Meanwhile, Brown informed Football Insider that Johnstone is keen on joining Farke’s team, where he would have the chance to play in the Premier League.

Leeds’ interest in Johnstone has emerged amid uncertainty surrounding Meslier’s future after falling out of favour under Farke in the final stages of the season.

Brown told Football Insider on 9 April that Leeds are open to offers for Meslier and will sign a top-tier replacement as they gear up for their return to the Premier League.

Mistakes throughout the season, including those against Portsmouth, Sunderland, Hull City, and Preston North End, cost his team crucial points in the battle for promotion.

Despite eventually securing the title on the final day, there is a sense at Elland Road that the process would have been much smoother with a dependable figure between the posts.

Meanwhile, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider in January that Leeds are aiming to recruit a top-tier goalkeeper amid concerns over the Frenchman’s performances.
