When Celtic clinched the 2024/25 Premiership title at Tannadice last month, it marked the club’s 14th championship in the past 15 seasons.
Whether Brendan Rodgers is in the Celtic Park technical area or Neil Lennon, the outcome has consistently been the same—Scotland’s most decorated club collecting silverware year after year.
Rangers have attempted everything within their power to halt the dominance, even turning to drastic steps by naming Barry Ferguson as caretaker manager after parting ways with Philippe Clement in February.
However, it appears Rangers, who could soon undergo a takeover by the San Francisco 49ers, are unlikely to appoint Ferguson permanently.
Instead, a notable candidate has emerged, with Carlo Ancelotti’s son reportedly being considered for the challenge of ending Rodgers’ reign at Celtic.

Rodgers has watched more Rangers managers come and go than the number of trophies Ibrox has claimed during his time in Glasgow.
But as Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor discussed the idea of Davide Ancelotti, the son of the new Brazil head coach Carlo, taking the helm at Rangers, the conversation naturally veered toward Celtic.
And, unsurprisingly, the two lamented on talkSPORT about Celtic’s stranglehold and why a shift is needed, especially with talk of a managerial change looming at Rangers.
“That’s an interesting one,” said McCoist about Davide Ancelotti becoming Rangers boss. “I can’t lie to you. I don’t know an awful lot about Davide Ancelotti. Obviously, I know a lot more about his dad.
“But it is a route down a different direction. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing.”
Agbonlahor responded: “I think Rangers need that. I think Barry Ferguson has done well in European games, but to win one out of seven at home in the Scottish Premier League isn’t good enough.
“Maybe they need that different direction. They need someone not associated with the club.”
McCoist added: “They need massive change. Obviously, change at the top. I assume if the new takeover comes in, then they will have some money. They need to re-group. Stabilise themselves.”
Agbonlahor then claimed: “But, for the league as well, you can’t have a league where one team has dominated so easily, and the league has won so long before the season is over. The best times are watching the SPFL when it was neck and neck. And the derby game decided who would win the league.”
McCoist agreed: “Competition. Competition. It’s Competition.”

There are uncertainties regarding whether Rodgers will commit to a new deal at Celtic, but one certainty remains: he’ll be in charge next season.
The Irishman’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026, and speculation continues about his future.
During both of Rodgers’ tenures with Celtic, he has secured the title every season and is now poised to capture yet another Treble.
