The dust has now settled on another Premiership season for Celtic.

Yes, there’s still one fixture remaining — Celtic’s Scottish Cup final clash against Aberdeen on Saturday at Hampden — but what a campaign it has been in general.

That’s four consecutive titles, and 14 of the past 15 for Scotland’s most decorated club, as Chris Sutton appeared in high spirits days after the season wrapped up.

Throughout the year, supporters of Celtic and Rangers would have tuned in to see Sutton and Kris Boyd trading blows in the Sky Sports studios.

But when the pair were reflecting on the campaign during the Warm Up, they were asked to name the ‘funniest moment of the season’, and Celtic’s former forward offered a truly sharp reply.

In the final stages of that contest, Ianis Hagi struck a late leveller, prompting an exuberant celebration from Rangers’ players and coaching staff alike.

Sutton highlighted that as his pick for the funniest moment of the season, labelling Rangers a ‘real bunch of losers’ for reacting that way when Celtic were already 14 points ahead.

“I still think it’s really weird, you can all disagree, but the Rangers equaliser at Pittodrie,” said Sutton.

“When they had essentially lost the league. They were 14 points down, and then the wild celebrations. I don’t get it at all. I think that’s a real bunch of losers. You have just lost the league. Why are you celebrating like that?

“You should be jogging back. The bench should be sombre. I don’t understand, for the dear life of me, get it.”

Since the start of the millennium, Celtic have secured 42 honours – and that tally could rise to 43 by the weekend – while Rangers trail behind on 18.

Even so, Boyd had a response to Sutton’s criticism of Rangers.

“Celebrate a last-minute equaliser 2-0 down,” said Boyd. “I think, in the moment, you have to enjoy it.”
