Kieran Tierney’s return to Celtic is set to bolster their squad with his wealth of experience, enhancing their quest to maintain supremacy over Rangers.

This is the perspective of Scotland teammate and Premier League standout John McGinn, who spoke glowingly of the Arsenal defender.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has finalized a pre-contract agreement for Tierney to rejoin the club in the summer, and Aston Villa’s captain McGinn shared his excitement for his friend, describing him as an exceptional player and consummate professional.

McGinn is confident that Tierney will be thrilled to return to Celtic and work again under Rodgers, with his skills poised to be crucial in keeping Celtic at the pinnacle of Scottish football.

This season, Celtic enjoyed a strong Champions League campaign, advancing to the knockout rounds before a close loss to Bayern Munich over two legs. McGinn believes Tierney is eager to drive further progress in Europe.

However, Tierney’s immediate focus remains with Arsenal, where he’s part of their semi-final clash against PSG after defeating Real Madrid. A Champions League triumph could mark a dream conclusion to his Arsenal tenure, and McGinn is certain Tierney is determined to end on the highest note.

Speaking to the Sunday Post, McGinn said: “I’m really pleased for Kieran. He is an unbelievable footballer and totally dedicated to his profession.

“Celtic is his club, and I would imagine he is really excited about going back and playing again under Brendan Rodgers.

“I’ve no doubt Kieran will add extra quality to the squad, and his experience will be invaluable as they push towards remaining the dominant team in the country.

“It’s also about progress in Europe, and Kieran will want to help the club into the Champions League. It’s the tournament every footballer wants to be involved in.

“So, I wish Kieran well, but he also has plenty to look forward to with Arsenal in the next few weeks, and he’ll be desperate to go out on a high.”
