NafisaKieran Tierney turned down proposals from top European clubs to secure a return to Celtic, per a recent report.
The left back will depart Arsenal this summer, rejoining his childhood club six-and-a-half years after his £25million transfer.
Arsenal declined to extend Tierney’s contract for an additional year, following his loan spell at Real Sociedad last season, having lost his place under Mikel Arteta.
Though he’s seen more game time recently due to necessity, Tierney has finalized a pre-contract to return to Parkhead.
According to the Herald, Tierney rejected offers from clubs in England, Germany, Italy, and Spain to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.
Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga champions, showed strong interest in the 27-year-old, while Everton made efforts to keep him in the Premier League.
His Scotland teammates Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour have thrived in Serie A with Napoli, and Lewis Ferguson has shone at Bologna.
But Tierney opted not to follow in their footsteps by joining Juventus. Sevilla’s offer of a return to La Liga was also rejected.
All of which will be music to the ears of Celtic fans as one of their own prepares to don the Hoops again as he enters the prime years of his career.
