Silva has openly acknowledged the challenges he faced at Wolves, particularly the pressure of adapting at a young age, with his time in England never quite clicking.
Since joining for a club-record fee in 2020, the Portuguese striker has been sent on multiple loan spells, featuring for PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, Rangers, and now Las Palmas.
Following a disappointing stint at Rangers, many assumed Wolves would part ways with him for good, yet he remains contracted to the club.
Although Nuno Espírito Santo’s initial vision for Silva didn’t pan out, Wolves have received praise for their approach in managing the situation.
That’s according to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, who shared insights with Molineux News about what could be next for the forward.
“He is in wonderful form but he’s one of those players that’s not particularly suited to English football,” Bailey explained.
“Wolves have been very clever with him, with all of his loan deals it’s a risk but they’ve let him go out to Las Palmas, he is having a brilliant season. He’s under contract but I don’t see a future for him at Wolves but the way he’s playing opens all sorts of avenues.”
Wolves fans were taken aback when Silva was linked with Atletico Madrid, with reports suggesting Diego Simeone is keeping tabs on his progress in Spain.
Bailey addressed these rumors, acknowledging that the La Liga giants are actively scouting forwards for the summer window.
“Atletico, we know, they’ve seen a lot of him, Atletico have been linked to a lot of forwards so it appears they will be in the market.”
Could Matheus Cunha’s move influence Silva’s future?
A potential transfer to Atletico Madrid would mark a remarkable turnaround for Silva, who struggled to prove himself at Wolves in a high-pressure environment.
Despite past difficulties, his performances this season have justified the interest, with the young forward contributing to nine goals while on loan.
Could Atletico be his next destination? Bailey believes it’s a strong possibility, citing Wolves’ positive relationship with the Spanish club as a key factor.
“Atletico do have a good relationship with Wolves with the Matheus Cunha deal so, I think Silva has played himself into a very good move from what I understand.
“I think he will stay in Spain. It’s worked out really well for Wolves where they’re not really going to lose out on him as much now.”
Wolves and Atletico Madrid previously negotiated in December 2022 for Matheus Cunha, and with ties between the clubs still strong, another deal could be on the horizon this summer.
