NafisaLE FÉE’S IMMEDIATE IMPACT KEY FOR SUNDERLAND, SAYS LE BRIS
Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris is confident that Enzo Le Fée’s familiarity with his playing philosophy will allow the midfielder to hit the ground running at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats have secured Le Fée on loan from AS Roma until the end of the season, with a clause to make the move permanent should they achieve promotion. If the deal is triggered, it could become a club-record transfer, depending on performance-related add-ons.
Although Le Fée is viewed as a long-term investment, Le Bris has emphasized the 24-year-old’s immediate importance to Sunderland’s promotion push. The pair previously worked together at FC Lorient, where Le Fée flourished under Le Bris’ guidance, helping the team to a surprise 10th-place finish in Ligue 1 during the manager’s debut season.
Le Bris highlighted Le Fée’s versatility and tactical awareness as key attributes, saying: “We know that there are only four months left and so if we can find a player who is really connected with a good level of confidence, this is better. It’s very clear with him about the personality, the footballer and his knowledge of our game model. So for that, I think it’s a good idea for us.”
Le Fée’s ability to play in multiple roles across midfield gives Le Bris flexibility in his approach. Reflecting on their time at Lorient, he added: “We played with a 4-4-2 at Lorient, a 3-4-3 but mainly a 4-4-2 in the first season and he played as one of the sixes, as an eight. He has played as a ten and even I think on two or three occasions as a left winger. So he’s very adaptable, very connected with his teammates. He is very direct and so is very connected with our idea of fast attacks.”
