NafisaBeto remains absent from Turin despite Torino’s pursuit of the struggling Everton striker, according to Italian journalist Orazio Accomando.
Reporting via his personal X account on 7 January, Accomando revealed that a deal for the 26-year-old is proving difficult due to a disparity in valuations between the two clubs. Tuttosport also notes that, despite Beto’s recent escape to Manchester to avoid the snow, he has not travelled to Turin. Meanwhile, his representatives are reportedly working to secure a move that suits all parties involved.
The Portuguese forward, who has netted just one Premier League goal this season, has been linked with an exit from Goodison Park even before the January transfer window opened. His recent sighting at Manchester Airport only fuelled speculation [The Toffee Blues X]. However, it remains uncertain whether Everton would sanction his departure without a suitable replacement lined up.
Sean Dyche’s side has struggled for goals this season, with only Southampton having a worse scoring record in the Premier League. The Toffees sit precariously above the relegation zone, and their trio of forwards—Beto, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Armando Broja—have managed just three league goals between them. Broja, on loan from Chelsea, is yet to score, further compounding Everton’s attacking woes.
Selling Beto without reinforcements would be a gamble for Everton, who lack firepower in the final third. While Beto has underwhelmed since his arrival, the club cannot afford to weaken their options further unless they can secure a proven striker capable of hitting double figures in the remaining months of the campaign.
The Friedkin Group, who oversee Torino’s transfer dealings, face an uphill battle to strike a deal with Everton as the window progresses.
