Transfer News: Sunderland Hijack Sensational Forward from Rivals as Championship Battle Reaches Boiling Point!

Former Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara has become a January transfer target for promotion rivals Sunderland, according to French outlet Jeunes Footeux. The Black Cats are reportedly eyeing a loan deal for the Finland international as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Kamara left Leeds last summer after making more than 40 appearances during their promotion campaign. The 28-year-old joined Stade Rennais in an £8m deal, with his final game for the Whites being their play-off final defeat to Southampton.

“It was bitter-sweet leaving Leeds,” Kamara said. “We were very close to going up. We probably should have gone up automatically. It was a tough one to take, losing in the play-off final.

“I was only there for a year, so moving so soon was a bit of a weird one, but things just happen quickly in football and you have to be ready.”

Since his move to Rennes, Kamara has struggled for game time. He has not started a match since November and has been limited to just two substitute appearances in the club’s last four fixtures.

Jeunes Footeux claims Sunderland have inquired about Kamara’s availability as they search for a new defensive midfielder. Tony Mowbray’s side is firmly in the race for automatic promotion, currently sitting fourth in the Championship.

The Black Cats drew 2-2 with Leeds in a thrilling encounter at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.
