NafisaJulen Lopetegui’s regime at West Ham United appears to be hanging by a thread as the Hammers continue to struggle in the Premier League.
Despite a significant summer cost, West Ham find themselves struggling in 14th place, having won just three of their opening 11 matches.
Lopetegui, who replaced David Moyes in May, is now under increasing pressure, with the club’s board reportedly questioning his future.
Former West Ham recruitment staffer Mick Brown spoke to Football Insider about Lopetegui’s risky position: “He could lose his job and be sacked immediately, at any time.
Things can change with the click of a finger. When he was appointed, they expected him to pick up where Moyes left off. That faith is fading quickly.”
During speculation over Lopetegui’s sacking, reports have emerged linking Jose Mourinho with the role.
According to Football Insider, the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham boss is “very interested” in the prospect of returning to the Premier League.
Sources claim Mourinho, who owns a house in London, would “jump at the chance” to take over at West Ham.
Known for his tactical common sense and taste for turning clubs into “results machines,” Mourinho, 61, remains one of football’s most decorated managers.
With 26 major trophies, including three Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns, the self-proclaimed “Special One” could be ready for a dramatic return to English football.
