NafisaEverton’s head of recruitment, Dan Purdy, is reportedly in talks with Netherland giants PSV Eindhoven to join their backroom staff set-up, according to sources close to the situation.
Purdy’s potential move comes as an unusual incidence that leads to the ongoing involvement of former Everton sporting director Marcel Brands, who now leads PSV’s recruitment strategy.
It appears Brands is keen to bring Purdy to the Netherlands, with discussions currently underway to secure the deal for him.
This development also has to do with the conclusion of The Friedkin Group’s takeover at Everton, adding further intrigue to what could be a major reshuffle behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
With the US billionaire Dan Friedkin set to usher in a new era at the club, Purdy’s departure could signal the beginning of a major overhaul of Everton’s recruitment team.
The 30-year-old Purdy, who left his position as scouting and operations manager at Everton in 2022 following Brands’ own exit from the club, made a surprise return just months later.
His decision to come back to Finch Farm in March 2023 was largely influenced by Everton’s current director of football, Kevin Thelwell, who had reshuffled the club’s recruitment structure and convinced Purdy to rejoin the Merseyside club.
Now, with the potential move to PSV, it seems Purdy could be on the brink of another career shift. While the specifics of his role at PSV are still unclear, his departure would leave another significant void in Everton’s recruitment set-up for the team.
