NafisaDutch Tactician Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as a potential candidate to replace Sean Dyche at Everton, with the club’s ownership situation set to change and the manager under increasing pressure after poor runs of form.
According to TEAMtalk (14 November), the Dutch legend is one of the names being considered should Dyche’s tenure come to an end at the Goodison park.
Fans have grown frustrated with the team’s performances, and with The Friedkin Group ready to take control from Farhad Moshiri, there’s speculation that the Americans could look to appoint an “attack-minded” coach like Van Nistelrooy to rejuvenate the club and reignite it’s ambition.
Everton’s current struggles are evident, with the team sitting in 16th place in the Premier League following their 0-0 draw against West Ham on 9 November last game before the international break.
Despite Dyche’s efforts in guiding the Toffees to safety last season, many believe he has failed to bring the stability and long-term vision that the club desperately needs during this difficult times.
While Dyche cannot be blamed entirely for Everton’s downfall, much of the responsibility for the club’s mismanagement over recent years falls at the feet of club owner Moshiri, it is though Dyche’s job to deliver results on the pitch and bring the best out of the team.
The Everton faithful, long starved of success, are becoming increasingly frustrated in their desire for a more progressive manager who will bring the club some silverwares.
Van Nistelrooy, however, is an unproven option. His only experience as a top-flight manager came during a brief spell at PSV Eindhoven, following a caretaker role at Manchester United where he strive.
After just one season at PSV, the 48-year-old resigned, leaving questions about his readiness for a high-pressure role like the one at Goodison Park so far.
His short stint at Manchester United where he oversaw just four games before stepping down raises further doubts about his ability to manage at the highest level of the game.
While the idea of a former player of Van Nistelrooy’s calibre taking charge at Everton would excite many, the club would be taking a considerable gamble by handing him the reins, especially with their future in the balance as they hope to get back to winning ways and some silverwares.
