NafisaTomas Soucek has come under heavy criticism from Czechia media following his dull performance in Saturday’s match against Albania.
The West Ham midfielder received a yellow card within the first 15 minutes of the game, which means he will miss Czechia’s next fixture against Georgia on 19 November.
Soucek has been a regular for Julen Lopetegui’s side this season, but his display against Albania has done little to charm him further to the media.
Czechia’s iSport website rated him just 5/10, citing several shortcomings in his performance. “He missed a great chance in the second half.
It was enough to react better; he hit the ball badly in a small area,” the source reported. They also noted habit to rush passes, often behind the defence, and his early yellow card, which they described as a significant block to his game.
At West Ham, one of the main reasons for Soucek’s regular starts has been the inconsistent performances of his midfield rivals, Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez.
While Rodriguez is still adjusting to the Premier League pace, Alvarez has been prone to disciplinary issues, having already received two red cards this season.
Despite this, Soucek’s position in the starting XI isn’t guaranteed. West Ham have underperformed this season, and if Soucek’s form doesn’t improve, he could find himself dropped. On his day, Soucek is a valuable asset, but consistency will be key to keeping his place.
